NIRAS supports governments and authorities to improve water governance and enhance service delivery to citizens in numerous countries around the world.
In NIRAS, water development is essentially water governance development – how we as individuals and as a society manage, use and allocate resources and distribute services. By promoting good governance and by positioning institutional and organizational development at the forefront of our sector programs, we maximize the effectiveness of our interventions and sustain outcomes in the capable hands of our partners.
Our experience from many water projects across the world is that the main problem is typically not water scarcity or pollutions. The main concern is how to manage the resource; to establish a legal framework, develop required tools for sharing, using and reusing, and promote human awareness and capacity. By doing so we can successfully address any water-linked concern – be it water scarcity, climate change or food security.
