NIRAS Indevelop part of Expert Group Meeting on SDG 5

NIRAS Indevelop was invited by UN Women, together with OECD-UNDP to participate in a high-level meeting of GRB experts from around the world, to discuss and develop a methodology to measure Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 c1.

This important indicator is a part of SDG 5, which is related to gender equality and measures “the proportion of countries with systems to track and make public allocations for gender equality and women’s empowerment”.

Gender responsive budgeting (GRB) is the most important tool that can ensure de-facto gender equality through governments' financing flows.

Maja Bosnic, NIRAS’ Team Leader in the "Gender Budgeting in Ukraine" project, funded by the Swedish Government (Sida), participated in the expert group meeting where she presented the achievements of GRB in Ukraine, as well as suggestions for improvement of standardization of measuring GRB results.

Developed methodology and surveys should contribute to adequate measuring of GRB work around the world and set the standards of good GRB practices.
