Marie Neeser has over twenty-five years of international executive management, consulting and capacity development experience in the field of environmental management and sustainable development. Her particular focus has been on national policy and strategy development and institutional strengthening within the area of Education for Sustainable Development. 

Marie holds a M.Sc. in Earth Science and has been working as a consultant and long term technical adviser to donor agencies, governments and non-governmental organisations in planning and implementation of development projects. She has been involved in managing and organising numerous training programmes including capacity development of academia within higher education institutions and designing training programmes for decision makers and senior professionals within government agencies and organisation working with strategic planning and management of coastal zones. Marie is currently a programme director and team coordinator for Sida’s International Training Programme on Strategic Environmental Assessment.

Key qualifications:

  • Project/programme management - appraisal, design, strategic planning, implementation, personnel management, financial administration and control, monitoring and evaluation
  • National policy and strategy formulation involving participatory processes
  • Training needs analysis and curricula and training programme design

Marie is fluent in Swedish and English and has a basic working knowledge in French and German.
